Job Announcement: Park Maintenance Assistant Superintendent

The City of Mobile Parks & Recreation Department is seeking a qualified and motivated Park Maintenance Assistant Superintendent to oversee landscaping, grounds maintenance, and horticultural operations across our parks system. This role is essential in maintaining beautiful, safe, and sustainable green spaces for our community. The salary for this position is on a range from $54,504 - $68,064.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee and manage horticulture, landscaping, and grounds maintenance within the municipal parks system.
• Supervise staff and contractors to ensure efficient park maintenance and beautification.
• Utilize computerized maintenance management systems for tracking, reporting, and data analysis.
• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations, including obtaining Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) certification within the first year.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Parks Management, Horticulture, Landscape Architecture, or a related field (preferred).
• Experience: Minimum of three (3) years in horticulture or landscaping, with at least one (1) year of supervisory or administrative experience, preferably in a municipal parks system.
• A combination of education and experience equivalent to these requirements will be considered.
• Must possess strong computer skills, including experience with computerized maintenance management systems, spreadsheets, and data analysis.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in park maintenance, landscape architecture, or related municipal operations.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to oversee teams and projects effectively.
