Recreation Department – Athletic Coordinator
General Statement of Job
Under the supervision of the Athletic Manager, the employee is responsible for assisting with planning, organizing and supervising youth and adult athletic programs. In addition assists with coordinating activities of volunteers.
PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS
- Assist in coordinating and supervising City-sponsored athletic programs, classes and events for all ages, included but not limited to, soccer, baseball, softball, t-ball, basketball, football, track and field, and cheerleading. Organize sports camps as needed.
- Assist with setup of schedules and brackets for league and tournament play.
- Assist in the development of fair and unbiased way to select teams in all sports
- Assist in the preparation and supervision of use of athletic fields and other various activities at Sportsplex
- Maintain inventory of athletic equipment and shirts.
- Assist in Coaches and Parents meetings and clinics when necessary to ensure that all understand the rules of the sport and the Sportsplex
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Athletic Manager of Parks and Recreation
- Assist with yearly special events within Recreation Dept. and assist with set up/take down of tables/chairs for events at the Valley Community Center
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited two year college or university in recreation, physical education and/or related field OR three to five years related experience and/or a combination of education and experience.
- A valid Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one is required. Certified in basic first-aid/CPR/AED.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Employee is required to successfully complete a pre-employment physical exam and drug screen.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Full-time position
- Regularly scheduled hours year-round, with weekend and/or night work.
- Always on call
- Work conditions will be indoor and outdoor in all types of weather
- Lifting and exerting between 20 to 30 pounds of force on a regular basis.
